Hi, I'm David, the founder of Social Sips.
My journey into the world of hemp infused beverages started with a simple realization. I am tired and disenchanted with how alcohol makes me feel the day after a night of drinking. The occasional joint that I used to enjoy stopped being fun. Today's weed is just too strong. In 2023 while on vacation in Portland, Maine, I had my first hemp infus ed beverage from a company called Wynk. It was light, tasty, easy to drink and put me in a genuinely good headspace and I immediately became intrigued with this new category of adult social beverages.
Back home in Pennsylvania, I dove headfirst into learning about the category, sampling lots of products and then started vending at small music festivals and public events to see if anyone else felt the way I did. The answer was a resounding yes, they do. Over and over, I heard the same thing - people are interested in a healthier non-alcoholic beverage option that still feels social and fun. That's how Social Sips was born and for the last two years, we have had a blast introducing people to hemp beverages that feel balanced and aligned with how people actually want to feel.
When we tried to figure out a realistic distribution strategy, we ran into the maze where every state regulates hemp beverages differently, much like they do with adult-use cannabis. Based on our laws in Pennsylvania, these drinks simply aren't available in retail stores like they are in surrounding States.

Hi, my name is Jamie, Vice President of Social Sips LLC. I’ve spent the last ten years immersed in the cannabis industry, working in every aspect of cannabis from seed to sell.. In that capacity I have worked in medical cannabis as well as recreational adult use dispensaries in Pennsylvania and Maine. Most recently, I oversaw an organic grow facility as the lead cannabis agronomist and led the wholesale operation for the sales of organic cannabis products. Over the last few years, I noticed an increasing public interest in hemp infused products, including beverages. As someone who was never much of a drinker, the idea of a non alcoholic alternative option was very appealing and I wasn't alone. People are gravitating towards the idea of a social beverage without the baggage of alcohol and its effects on our bodies. By incorporating healthy adaptogens such as L-Theanine, Magnesium. Lions Mane and Reishi mushrooms, the new breed of adult beverages can reduce stress, increase focus and provide a calming yet enhanced effect for those who indulge in these drinks.
My perspective about infused beverages shifted while I was working for one of the first hemp-infused beverage companies in Maine. I saw firsthand how these "garden beverages" offered exactly what society had been missing: the relaxation of a toast and the joy of a shared glass, with none of the next-day regrets.
When my father visited me in Maine in 2023 and tried them for himself, he loved them so much that he not only decided to get involved in this class of products, he made the decision to stop drinking alcohol entirely. We realized that this wasn't just a personal preference; it was a movement and was an idea that was here to stay.
Now that I’ve moved back to Pennsylvania, we have teamed up to launch Social Sips LLC. My mission goes beyond just selling a product; I am deeply passionate about educating our community on the power of the plant. With a decade of industry knowledge, I want to demystify hemp and help people understand exactly what they are putting in their bodies and why it works as a healthy alternative. Though we face legislative hurdles, we will continue to promote the next iteration of social beverages.and continue to discuss the tremendous benefit of cannabanoids.
